To be born on a limb/ Free fall to the ground/ Burrow deep as a grave, my wise child/ To emerge, split your skin/ Leave your decoy behind/ Then to sing, to be winged/ Hover briefly above our shared burial chamber/ A shrill cry for connection/ A single warm season of resonance
