I’m a colored pencil artist based in central Virginia, dedicated to illuminating the connections between native flora and fauna. Through careful, detailed work, I invite viewers into a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
My drawings reflect a deep reverence for the natural world. I honor my subjects by taking the time to render every detail.
I draw what I know and love. My passion for native plants and animals, and belief in the wisdom of native systems, compel me to dedicate myself to learning more about them and sharing what I know through artistic interpretation.
True knowing takes time. I am content to give each insect, leaf, frog, or flower the time that is needed to be faithfully illustrated. This often means spending many weeks (or even months!) on a single small drawing.
My artistic process involves dedicated observation, year over year, to the natural processes unfolding around me. I closely observe soft baby leaves unfurl in springtime and see them brown and curl against the snow.
